Liverpool first team coach Mike Marsh said today he expects Reds keeper Pepe Reina to be fit for the clash with Southampton at the weekend.
The Spanish shot stopper had been out with a calf injury, which forced him to miss the Reds 3-2 win of Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, but the coaching staff are confident the first-choice keeper will make a comeback against the Saints.
"He's coming along nicely. He's got one of those injuries where you're not sure how long it's going to take," Marsh told Liverpool's official website.
"He's still getting treatment - with a bit of luck that will improve in the next couple of days and he'll be available for Saturday."
"We'll just see how the rest of the squad is before we commit to that [the surgery]." Marsh added.

Marsh confirmed however that Joe Allen needed surgery on a shoulder problem, though was unable to give a date for the procedure as the Liverpool staff need to weigh up the needs of the squad against the desire to have the Welshmen ready for pre-season.
