Danny Wilson agrees Hearts deal as Martin Skrtel considers his Liverpool future

Former Liverpool defender Danny Willson has agreed terms with Scottish club Hearts as the Reds opted not to renew his contract.

The former Rangers defender spent the latter part of the season on loan at Hearts, and with Liverpool unwilling to extend his contract, which expired at the end of the season, Wilson opted to make that move a permanent one.

Fellow centre-back Martin Skrtel is also considering his Anfield future after seeing out most of the second-half of the season on the bench, with Brendan Rodgers instead choosing to start now retired defender Jamie  Carragher.

“I have not had any specific offers. But if some should come and they interest me, I would probably consider it seriously." Skrtel told the Slovakian media.

“The club has the biggest say in this in any case, because they have the right for it with me being contracted.

“I am not saying that I want to leave at any cost. I feel sorry for what happened in this season. But I have been here for five-and-a-half years and I have built a position here.”

With Carragher retiring and Skrtel angling for an exit, Rodgers has had to look to the transfer market to bolster his defensive options, with Schalke's Kyriakos Papadopoulos a key target, whilst out-of-contract Kolo Toure may be brought in to add experience.
